    Hi folks,

    Window Vista 32bit
    Asus mobo M4A78T-E
    onboard sound card

The PC has sound before. However after several update it has no sound

    On Device Manger
Sound, video and game controller ->
    Via High Definition Audio

Uninstall it and reintall the driver from the CD coming with the mobo. Problem still remains without sound.

    On Device Manger
Sound, video and game controller ->
    Via High Definition Audio

Please advise where shall I check and how to fix the problem

When you uninstall, look in Control Panel -> Programs and Features for an uninstaller. Don't just uninstall the driver in Device Manager.

Before you run the new installer, you can right-click on the file (Setup.exe) and select Run as administrator.
