    1. I am a total Dummy when it comes to fixing my own software problems. I know enough to be a danger to my computer. Proof: After installing, trying, and uninstalling PeoplePC, I have apparently lost my server certificate. Message: The page cannot be displayed ... Cannot find Server or DNS error comes up whenever I try to open Internet Explorer. I currently have two Internet providers - Netzero & AOL. To access email on Netzero from AOL, NZ asks for DOMAIN NAME, where do I find it and is this also part of my problem with having lost server certificate? I thought I could reload Win98SE to solve problem, however, my original CD is corrupt. What should I do?

Are you sure you are even on line? If so, who are you using now? Netzero or AOL?

Are you on dial up or broadband?

    More info

I am on dialup through NZ at this time. I can also use AOL as dialup. I just can't open with IE. Under Properties: General: Cannot find server; Protocol: Unknown Protocol;Type: Not available; Connection: Not encrypted; Address: res://C:\Windows\System\SHDOCLC.DLL/dnserror.html#http:/www.microsoft.com/isapi/redir.dll?; Size, Created, & Modified: Not Available. Does this help define my problem?

I would try a Repair of Internet Explorer.

    Add/Remove Programs > IE > Change/Remove - a dialogue box should appear - select Repair.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks - I had already been advised to that. Figured no harm trying a second time - still getting "Page cannot be displayed - cannot find server or dns error. Any other ideas? Also, I keep reading about a proxy server - am I missing one and should I have one - is this my problem?
