Hi, We seem to have lost Outlook Express from my son's PC. the icon is still there but when clicked it comes up with. " C:\Program Files\ Outlook Express\MSN.EXE not valid Win 32 application ".
We used search and it only found the shortcut on the desktop. Checking in " Programs" O/Express / properties it is only the short cut's size (356bytes) but checking in " Program Files " properties is is still 2.15Mg size. When you try to open it from there it gives you the same message.
He thinks the kids may have done something wrong.
Can I get a new download ? or can I transfer it from another PC via Flash Drive or CD
I am under the impression O/Ex is part of Internet Explorer, it always seems to be on the PC when you get it but can,t find any connection to it.
Also will W98SE handle O/Ex 6 version OK or is it better to get O/Ex 5 to put back on.
If they went to delete some thing from O/Ex is it possible to delete the whole thing, never know what kids are fiddling with.
Hope you can help. Regards Des.

Click Start -> Run and type MSIMN.exe which is the executable for OE.

Go to Add/Remove Programs > MS Internet Explorer > Change/Remove - a dialogue box should pop up - select the Repair option.

    Yes

Download IE 6 for users not using XP

That figures I guess as it's missing elsewhere.Under normal circumstances it would be there.
You won't - it's not there :) The procedure in XP for repairing/reinstalling IE/OE is completely different.
Get the download I posted and see if it will install.

Hi, Pete, I copyied O/E 5 from another PC with W98 & I/E5 and loaded it on. and it said it was there but it still told me that "MSIMN.EXE is not a valid Win 32 application ". I dont know where to look for that or what to check, so we downloaded I/E6 pack and I just received an E mail ( I had to leave it running 2 hrs to download ) & he said it is working Ok. I didn't know if I should have removed the rest of I/E5 before I did it.?
Well Thanks again to you and Steve for your help, it is great that you help us tamperer's all the time. Cheers Des. :) :) :)

Glad to hear it's up and running now - I would leave IE5 well alone :) Any attempt to uninstall it/remove by other means may land you in trouble :D
