I'm new to this forum and need some serious help. running windows xp, went to run "control userpasswords2 " to remove password window during start up. unchecked the password box hit OK then restarted.

suddenly appears window that says "Select Netware Logon" with a check next to "preferred server ". I've never seen this window before.

after reboot I have a different desktop display, missing desktop icons, no outlook 2003 and the favorites in my browser (firefox) are gone.

I tried system restore. there were no restore points that worked. I tried to log off and switch users and there were no users to switch.

I still have Outlook 2003 and reinstalled thru Wizard and no previous info was saved.

    How can I restore Outlook?

In short - you've created another Windows User Profile...Logoff or reboot the pc and hopefully you'll see your regular account.

did not see more than one user during or after reboot. here's what disappeared:
Ccleaner,Spybot,Outlook, favorites on Firefox and IE, XL files on desktop. did this Select Netware Logon have something to do with this?

What you are describing is EXACTLY what would happen with if you create a new user and login to that user.....You don't loose the applications you just don't have shortcuts to them.

Are you using Vista or Windows 7?

    Besides making new ones

Look in C:\Documents and Settings\YOU OLD USER NAME\Start Menu

I can only find the Outlook 2003 that I reinstalled after the crash. Oh well thanks for your guidance I will now see if a professional can find it.
