I hope someone can offer a suggestion.

Recently I lost my Norton/Symantec Identity Protection and the Toolbar, both add-ons. I have tried, repeatedly, to re-enable them, both individually and together, but no joy.

The Symantec "off-shore" technician suggested I click on Reset in IE's Tools / Internet Options on the Advanced tab. I admit to being a bit hesitant to do this, for fear of losing more than those toolbar and protection add-ons.

Another suggestion was to create a separate user on the same machine, and then copy the Registry items for the missing add-ons, but there was no such Reg entry.

And yet a third option was to use Add-Remove to remove the IE entry altogether from my Windows 7 configuration, with the Windows Options control, then restart, and put it back.

Again, I am a bit scared of this option, because after years of beta testing Windows, I know how badly things can go sideways our south.

So, if anybody knows exactly what to do, to re-enable these two features, please let me know?
And yes, when this first happened, I did try a simple Restore, which did not give the features back.

Thanks, all, for your help and guidance.

verify this is checkmarked, if not, checkmark it:

Internet Options > Advanced Tab > Enable third-party browsers extensions

It was. The off-shore tech for Symantec tried guiding me through a load of things, and ended up with telling me to click on "reset IE" in Advanced options for IE; I didn' thave the cojones to do that. Seemed like I was going to lose more than I would gain.

Any ideas about that route? I'd almost rather uninstall IE and reinstall it than do that. I realize it is almost the same thing ...

    Thanks, again,
