Lost my IE quick launch icon on taskbar?

Hello, I used to have an "E" icon to the right of my start icon. I accidentally drug it out of the task bar area into the desktop. When I try and drag it back it just keeps going right back to the desktop?? How can I restore my Internet Explorer Icon back to the right of my start icon??? Thanks in advance! Gary

 

Right click on an empty space on the Taskbar and in the menu that opens, if there's a checkmark beside "Lock the Taskbar," click it to uncheck it.

See if you can then drag the IE icon into the Quick Launch bar. If you're aiming at the right place, a vertical black line should appear to indicate where it will drop. If you miss the exact location when you drop it, you can drag it horizontally within the Quick Launch bar to reposition it.

You can, of course, then relock the Taskbar.
