My problem is with MS WORD, but I think it is a W98 issue, and not an MS WORD issue.

Normally, when you see an MS WORD document file in Windows Explorer it has an icon that is a square box with a "W" inside it. All of a sudden that is no longer the case on my PC. Word documents now have a different icon. How/why does this happen? Actually, I am only moderately interested in an answer to that question (unless its answer is the answer to my next question). How do I get MS WORD documents back to their original icon?

    Thanks.

Try repairing the icons using the icon repair facility in Tweak UI 1.33

BTW I am assuming that the facility exists in that version of Tweak UI - as an XP user I use a different version of Tweak UI.

Thanks for that info. I download the "Tweak UI ", and followed the instructions at the link you provided. It said to right-click on the ".INF" file, and select install. I did that, and it looked like it was doing something, but where did it put the "program "? I don't see any icon on the desktop, nor do I see anything under "Programs" under the Start button????? How do I find it? What should I look for?

It should be under Programs - most likely as Microsoft Powertoys. Alternatively look in Control Panel. I'm afraid it has been a while since I used 98 and I don't have access to my 98 PC right now being away from home.

I did find it under the Control Panel, thanks. I think I will pass, though, on using it right away as my MS WORD icons are OK, now. My PC hung, as it so often does. When I rebooted, the MS WORD icons were back to the way I normally expect to see them. Thanks again.
