For those who helped me before, you know that I recently did a reinstall of win98 on mom's older computer. Everything so far seems to be working okay till I tried to connect to the internet.

She has Peoplepc which we originally installed via disk (which happens to be at her house) but when I try the icon (or the Start,Programs) for dial to internet - it doesn't know what to open the .brt with and of course neither do I. Internet Options in control panel says that aol.exe is the connection!

I started to use the internet connection wizard, but it was asking for phone numbers to call and I just cancelled out of it. I don't want to go any further yet because I don't want to mess anything up again!!

First of all, I am wondering WHY it has lost this information to begin with. Is this a typical problem after an os reinstall?

(And if these are stupid questions, well consider the source!)

Do you think I just need to get the peoplepc disk and reinstall it? I sure hope you say 'no' so that I don't have to drive 45 minutes away to get it. I did find some ppc files and I tried clicking on some like 'dialer.exe' but nothing happens. Maybe I am not clicking the right one.

If I continue with the wizard will it be able to find the information itself or am I gonna have to supply all the information?

As always, I appreciate any help! Sorry I'm back so soon!!!

With an ISP account already setup, I usually just make a connection through Dial Up Networking with the phone number, username and password information, skipping the ICW. Double click Make New Connection.
You can get a PeoplePC CD from an OfficeMax, Staples or someplace like that, call them.
This is not a typical thing with an overlay install.
