Somehow my defrag.exe got lost. I tried to reinstall Windows 98se but it said it can't download because of my anti virus program (Norton). I actually deleted the Norton program and tried again to reinstall Windows 98. No go. Any ideas? I have the defrag.exe on another machine. Could I just copy it to a floppy and install that way?

Got to ask...Have you done a file search to see if you have misplaced this file with dragNdrop oops?

I hope you meant you "uninstalled Norton" and not deleted it!

I don't use Norton myself, but you may wish to search the archived files on past posts which address this issue. Your going to have to take care of any glitch Norton may be causing you while trying to install other applications not to mention the basic glitch of getting rid of Norton ghosts and remnants after an attempted and apparently incomplete uninstall. This is only going to give you future headaches and fits of rage. Defrag may even be problematic if the Virus program is running.

As a side note, I believe there is a utility somewhere {perhaps symantec, it's self} that boasts the removal/cleanup of Norton including any Registry drudge that may be left behind.
