    Hi--Ramona,
Haven't had to contact you in some time!! Tried to do so on sillydog board but it wouldn't let me sign in??? Just kept flashing back to my login screen??
I've messed up my NS 7.0 bookmarks file. I had a freeze up in XP home (the first time) while listening to internet radio and working my emails, things just froze and I had to shut down and restart!!
Everything came back Ok, emails but no bookmarks?? I tried to read and understand your NS solutions on corrupted bkmks--but!! There doesn't seem to be any there in the bmbulk.slt file?? I did a search bookmarks.html and a file exists dated today 6/13/4 but only 356 bytes in properties. that can't be all my bookmarks...Another file in that .slt location is XUL.MFL of 1,796 kb. what's that??
I tried to send a copy of my .slt file but it won't pop into this screen, I guess it only works with regular email as a bmp??
OH!!!Ramona, I hope I haven't lost all my bmks??? I had so many a hundred or more, and filed so well. They must be somewhere in those files as you described in drilling down C:\Documents and Settings/user_name/Application Data/Mozilla/Profiles/profilename/xxxxxxxx.slt
I wish I could send you a copy of that file?/
Thanks for all your help in the past with a corrupted Filter problem, it's working great.
    John in Dallas.

PS. Forget to mention I did a system restore to 6/11/4, I knew all was well then. I thought it might bring bmks back, it didn't...

    RE: Lost bookmarks

    Hi-Ramona,
Well---following your instructions on NS solutions, I DID get my bookmarks back, using the bookmarks html.sbsd.bak file in the .slt folder...Surprise...Surprise!!
They are all there, but for some reason, I can't get my personal toolbar to work, they just won't pop in there??!!
Under manage bmks, I used to just move them up there individually and in folders. Wonder what's the problem?
I have to click on bookmarks and "find" them, so inconvienent.
Really got used to using my toolbar.
    Thanks for any suggestions.
    John in Dallas.

    John,

When you open Bookmark Manager, is there anything listed under Personal Toolbar, or is it blank? Have you tried this:

    Click on Manage Bookmarks
    Highlight the Personal Toolbar
    Click on View
    Select: Set as Personal Toolbar

If the selection is grayed out then do this:

    Create a new folder
Move all your Bookmarks in the Personal Toolbar to this folder
    Now click on View
    Select: Set as Personal Toolbar

Let us know if you continue to have problems.

    Hi-Ramona,
Thanks for your help. Following your instructions below, I DO have my personal toolbar in place, bmks are there, they just won't display accross the top of the screen as before?
Second example, provided a another personal toolbar folder?? Previously, I used to be able to drag/drop them into that folder from manage bmks area, now, they won't do that??
I'll keep playing around with them--see what happens!! Hope I don't corrupt them. Perhaps draging each one of them up into the folder will work??
    Thanks for your help.
    John
    P.S.
WELL,----that worked, Ramona....dragging each one up into the personal toolbar folder I created. Now they're accross the screen as before. Now, I've got duplicates and will try and delete those without corrupting everything. Just takes time and "learning" a new thing.
Thanks again for all your great help!!! My next crisis is "learning" Mozilla and trying to DL that one of these days!!!?? This version is working so well NS 7.0 - I see no reason to mess things up, right??
    John

    Hi John,

I'm glad that you have your Personal Toolbar fixed. That must have been tedious moving those Bookmarks individually.

There are so many bug fixes, and new features in the new Releases of Mozilla, you might want to think about moving on to the new Mozilla 1.7 Release due out in the next week. Netscape 7.2 which is based on Mozilla 1.7 code is said to be released in the next few weeks also. I have not seen anything official, however. Just do whatever you're comfortable with...
