    Intel(R) Core(TM)Quad Q9450 @ 2.66 GHz 2.66GHz, I am running Windows 7 Pro.

I got Windows 7 Pro some months ago, to replace XP. It was installed at the shop that built the computer.
I had an audiology card that worked fine with XP but after a month using Win 7 I removed it as it was giving me problems. No Audio. I am now using the audio from the motherboard and it works intermittently. It usually requires a restart to work.
Today It stopped working and restarting has not helped.
    Can you help,
    Thanks,
    Lewis

Hi Lewis, You may need to go into BIOS and see if the Audio is Enabled. Motherboard drivers may be required otherwise purchase another good Sound card. Neil.

    Hi Mr. Bill,
There is a yellow exclamation mark by PCI Simple communications controller.
Neil, I don't know how to go into BIOS and see if the Audio is Enabled.
    Thanks Lewis

If the onboard sound works intermittently then you need not do anything in the bios. If it was disabled in the bios it would never work at all, there would never be any sound from that device.

In Device Manager, what is listed under Sound, video & game controllers? I'll bet the old sound card is still listed there. If so, remove it. Even if it's not listed there its drivers are probably still being loaded.

    Hi,
I checked the BIOS and audio was enabled. Audio was completely lost.
I down loaded new drivers from the Intel site and now the audio works fine.
    Thanks Lewis.
