    Hi everyone.

I am new to your forum and am hoping you can help me with an annoying problem that I have.

I have Windows XP and use Outlook Express 6 for my email in conjunction with a free spam filter that was recommended to me called "Frontgate" everything works fine accept for a friends attachments which always show an envelope open and empty.
I have tried using Outlook without Frontgate but with the same result, someone suggested going to the blocked senders list in Outlook but after checking it is not listed.

Apparently he has tried sending the same email at same time with the same attachment but everyone but myself receives it.

I am hoping that someone else on the forum has come across a similar problem in the past and can possibly solve it for me.

    Regards.

    Oxo.

Do you happen to know, or can you find out from your friend the type of attachment that fails to come through. i.e. the file extension - .jpg, .doc ..... ??

    Hi PeteC.

Luckily I have already asked this question, apparently it seems to be any attachment be it JPG. film clip, word document, Etc, we have a series of lady and gentlemen friends that we pass photographs on to "photographic club" word documents also, but apparently its only me that cannot receive them off this particular person the rest of them receive them OK.

I have been asked to look behind my computer (They obviously think that its some way my fault)

This is all rather wierd - if you were unable to receive attachments from anybody I would be able to propose a possible solution.

It may be that your friend's ISP is blocking attachments to your ISP - I have the situation that I cannot send emails from one of my ISP's (talktalk) to anyone on AOL. Are any of your group on the same ISP as you are?

As a experiment ask one of your other friends to forward the mail to you from their account or simply to send you the attachment.

BTW are these mails sent as text or HTML?

Reference getting them forwarded on, thats exactly what we have had to revert to for the important ones, and one of the group did make sure that we were all using HTML.

Looks as though this is going down as one of those computer mysteries, I myself only have to think what may be wrong when something goes wrong with the computer and I get a head ache.

Many many thanks PeteC for taking the time and effort in trying to sort out this annoying problem for me as its very much appreciated.

    Regards.

The fact that you receive the attachments when forwarded from one of your friends suggests to me that the problem does not lie on your computer or with your ISP, but somewhere in the ether :)

Don't like 'unfinished business', but I can't offer anything else.
