I really don't know what to title this one.

I am dealing with a MDG computer with a recent install of Win7 64bit on a 120Gig SSD that is 4 months old, 6GIG of RAM, updated. The machine runs clean when scanned with MBAM and MS SE.

All data and user files are on a second HDD and that is backed up to a third HDD.

Twice over the last month when the user starts his computer the user account is there but there are no files. Clicking on Start reveals an empty right side of the start menu apart from the username. The programs are on the left and they open for the most part but teh owner cannot access any documents etc.

Outlook will open but any html link or attachment, regardless of what it is wants to open Word.

The 32bit version of IE will not open but the 64bit IE will.

Going into Windows Explorer shows nothing for the user.

When it happened the first time I disconnected all of the drives and reconnected them. When it started, everything was back and working fine. It happened again yesterday and upon reconnection it was back.

Where should I start to look here?

    Thanks

I would start by troubleshooting the SSD.
