The computer I now have came without a Floppy, so I purchased a Sony external USB floppy, installed, and worked fine (did not need a driver, WinXP provided the correct driver). All was fine until today. Although use floppy very little, had occasion today to use. Placed floppy in, nothing! So, accessed Device Manager, and the Yellow mark was in the Sony Floppy. Clicked thereon, next screen said: (A Driver (service) for this device has beern disabled. An alternate driver may be providing this functionally (Code 32)). Have no idea what to do. I clicked and uninstalled the floppy drive, and rebooted. The Hardware Manager found the device, but again, when I clicked on Device Manager, get same msg as above...and cannot use the drive. Searched for new driver, got msg: Could find no better driver than the one installed, etc. It is not the external floppy drive. I took it and installed in another (wife) computer, and it installed, found driver, and the floppy drive worked fine. By the way, when I looked to see which driver was being used, I wrote it down, and went back to the problem computer, and that driver was in System 32. Pls guys, can you get me back? Thanks...

Thanks for response...this is a really big deal since I have things on floppys I do not wish to loose. Anyway, yes, it was connected using a USB hub, then I connected to another slot, finally, directly to the USB port on the computer...nothing (by the way, hate to make posts to long, long...so omitted somer info). The computer hardware icon says (if I remove device and re-attach, 'have found new hardware, gives the name of the new hardware, then says 'your new hardware is connected but there was a problem and your new hardware may be un-usuable. (which it is)....and (recall connect to wife's computer it is fine) but when check System32 drivers, same floppy drivers are in both, my computer System 32 and wife's System32 drivers...do not know what to do next!
