This is a totally new problem for me. Diskeeper sent me error message relative corruption at location I failed to record but this is nothing new. Each time this has happened I have run Check Local Disk checking both boxes (appears to be same as scandisk /f). Nothing of visible or obvious consequence of any negative nature has occurred before. Till now.

This last time the program deleted all history pages other than those in
Internet Options as well as all cookies. I went thru and restored all the history pages I really wanted to keep then later in the day shut down for the night. When I booted up again this morning, everything was gone again.

Checking Internet Options I find nothing I recognize that would cause thjis problem to occur.

Any ideas how to stop this irritating sudden behavior of my PC, guys?

I shut down again list night and when booting up this morning, all of yesterdays history page links were gone again.

I made list of the18 web sites I visit daily and saved them in Word Pad so restoring them was not so laborious.

This morning I ran sfc /scannow so perhaps this will repair the problem.

Keep checking in the morning anmd I'll post what happens then.

You may have corruption in your History file or in one of the index.dat files....

Suggest you download CCleaner and under IE select History and Delete index.dat files - nothing else under IE and check that nothing else is checked by default elsewhere.

This is from an old post back in 2003 .....

Thankx Pete, Since I have run sdfc /scannow I'll wait till morning and see if that repaired the problem.

If not, CCleaner seems like a good shot to take.

Well, Pete, SFC solved nothing so I have taken your advice regarding CCleaner and just finished running the program so in the morning we will know if that resolved the issue.

    Again my thanks.

I rather doubted that sfc would fix the problem :) I don't think system files are in play here.

Will be interested to hear if the other method suggested is successful.
