I know that if I hold down the 'alt' key while typing 0128 on the numeric keypad, I get the symbol for the Euro (€)...similarly, 0165 gives the symbol for the British pound sterling. Can anyone point me to a ready-made list of these symbols so that I don't have to experiment to find the one I want? There's probably a name for these things but I don't know what it is, hence the term 'symbols'.

doubleu--Many, but not necessarily all of these symbols are available in each font. To see what is available for the various fonts, do a Find for charmap.exe (Character Map) on your hard drive, and click on it. If not there, you probably have it on your Windows CD so can install from there. Or maybe simpler, Control Panel|Add/Remove Programs|Windows Setup tab|highlight System Tools|click Details|put check in box to left of Character Map|Click OK.
