I am looking for a tool which will tell me how much space my files and programmes are taking up. I have used this programme before but can't remember the name of it, and I really need to clean up my com as my hard drives pretty full. I would appreciate any help.

Unsure of just what you're looking for. You can view the amount of space used vs free space by opening My Computer, then right click Local Disk C: and choose properties.

    I myself use PowerDesk

It is not free but it is one very handy program. It will not only show the contents of the HD but it will also show how much EACH FILE is using. The dates of same etc.

It is also great for moving stuff around. Lets say you download a file to C:

Open a 2nd PD Window and just drag-n-drop the file to another partition ( or folder for safer ( hopefully ) keeping.

I myself have used it since the days of Win95 ( or at least early 98 )

I used to use a program on win98 called Diskdata. It's not free anymore but you can still get the last freeware version if you want. I just tried it on XP and it seems to run fine. You can have a look at some screenshots of the newer version here.

I'm sure there's differences between the old freeware version and the new version but the screen shots look pretty much the same as the version I have so you can get an idea of what it looks like. If you want to try the freeware version you can get it here.
