If your CD says Word 2000 on it..that's all that's on it. If it's an office suite CD, Such as Office 2000, 2002, or 97, it would have Outlook.

    Example

Unless MS has done something stupid ( as they have with other stuff ) You should be able to run setup, select Custom, and then install or remove any item of your choice.

I know with the older MS Office and MS Works CDs you could do that.

But then MS may have taken that good stuff away from you with the newer version.

    OOPS !!

I forgot The original question referd to Word and not Office.

At least setup should tell you if Outlook is availabe or not.

Look at the top of this page and pass your mouse over RoseCitySoftware.com and select Product Summaries. The right side of the page has a link to Calypso EMail.

If you are looking for a good stand alone E-Mail, Eudora is very good.

Once installed on a partition other than C: Windows does not touch it.

And it does not depend on a certain version of Windows, IE or OE.

Up untill just recenty I was running the same version from the same partition and folder that I ran it in Win95.

Set addresses as Eudora Nicjnames and Windows/Outlook address books can take a long walk off of a short plank and have no efffect on Eudora.

The full version is not free, but is well worth it.

    At least I believe so.

    You Are welcome.

BTW. I was getting bored and was looking for something new to mess around with.

    I went and got Calypso.

It is looking good. Already got my Eudora messages and Addresses imported.

Norton AV checks it both in and out.

It also uses less resources and seems to release ALL of them when closed down.

No ideas right now. I see a way to import messages from OE but no the address book.

Will look around more tomorrow. ( Monday ).

These old eyes are getting a little sleepy.

I can find no way to import OE address book.

    Unless by selecting import/ Delimited.

From waht I read that would be an OE addres book which has been exported as a CSV ( comma separated value ) file.

I can not even try this as I do not even have OE or Outlook installed on any of my machines ( 4 of them )

As I mentioned before. I am using Eudora. And now it looks like Calypso just might take its place. I installed it on the D: drive.

Now I just need to find out just how stand alone it is.

    You are welcome.

I also now have MailWasher set so that it starts Calypso instead of Eudora.

:) I THINK :) At least it did when I tried it earlier.
