The built-in "Disk Cleanup" function in XP is a good start. My Computer|Right click on your C (main) drive and select properties. Other than this I recommend EasyCleaner http://www.toniarts.com/index.htm. It has an Unnecessary files cleaner that works well. To make this programme XP compliant you must do the following... In the Registry cleaner type Help in the skip dialog box otherwise you will loose access to XP's help files and functions. BTW if you use Office XP you need to enter Data.bak in the Unnecessary files skip box as well.
Other than these you can clear the Temporary Internet files, History and cookies on a regular basis by right clicking on the original (not a shortcut) IE icon on the desktop and go into the properties etc. Under your login in C:\Documents and Settings delet all that windows will allow in the Temp folder. The same for other usernames if you have them as well. The C:\Windows\Temp folder can be cleaned out as well.
Don't forget to use the Defragmenter utility on a regular basis as well.
There are a few other things as well but these will get you started and are the main things to worry about.

You should check out NSClean http://www.nsclean.com/nsclean.html for Netscape and Mozilla users, IEClean for the MS browser.

These utilities aren't free, but they do a great job of cleaning out all the debris left behind after a browsing session.

After running these programs to clean up after being on-line, I've done scans with Ad-Aware, but never found any spyware left behind that they missed.:)

    GoBack

Its a use for GoBack that some have told me...

Do your browsing secession, when done copy any data you want to save on removable media, revert drive to just before you went online, clear GoBack history... Now as far as your machine is concerned, it never happened.

Now the only records of your actions are in your ISP's log files, out of your reach...
