I was trying to tidy up my music folder and wondered about the enormous length of the file name and if it can be shortened somehow.Perhaps leaving out the obvious section at the beggining. An example below.
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\ALL AUDIO\Shared Music\Enya - Paint The Sky With Stars - 04 -

It may be I need some guidance about files in general and there naming.Ever hopeful is me,thanks in advance Dave.

    Hi Dave

Like your taste in music - love Enya too :)

No - you cannot shorten :

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\ALL AUDIO\Shared Music\Enya - Paint The Sky With Stars - 04 -

by leaving out the 'obvious' section at the beginning !

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\ALL AUDIO\Shared Music

is the PATH (road map if you like) to the file on your hard drive which enables Windows to find it and

Enya - Paint The Sky With Stars - 04 -

is the FILE name - you have control over this, but it could hardly be shorter! Windows allows FILE names of up to 250 characters

For access to the file in question simply click on the Shared Documents > Shared Music folder in Windows Explorer. Manage your music files from there - Windows will do the rest.

When you save a new file the Save dialogue box lets you navigate to the folder where you want to save the file - or create a new folder and you simply type in the file name - up to 250 characters - but you know this I'm sure.
