I have a app written in DOS (Clipper)
It generates a file with long name. It is no problem when it is WIN 98 but on XP, it is getting truncated to 8 chars only.
The command used for creating long file in my app is
    copy ttt.txt 1234567_23456778_abcd.txt
    Please help
    Thanks in advance

    hira -

    It's a mystery.

I tried the copy example you gave from the cmd prompt within windows xp home edition. It worked.
Then made a dos batch file and executed it from win by double clicking on it. It worked.

Assuming there's an icon on you desktop for the program.
Have you tried hitting properties > compatibility > and changing the mode?

8 letters - as you know - is the max a dos system will alllow. So i'll also assume you ARE booting up into win xp.

Probaly not much of a help but hopefully helped your troubleshooting (no experience with clipper).
