I am taking over duties for running a Windows 2003 advanced server for a client. Yesterday, I got a call about a user not being able to have her drives mapped whenever she logs into her laptop workstation (Windows XP Pro).

However, her drives map on any other workstation she logs into, and others' drives map when they log into that laptop.

As much as it may seem a workstation issue, one of my colleagues may think it's a profile issue on the server, but the only real difference I can see is that she has a local user profile on the laptop (since she does roam) with the same user/pass. It was working ok until suddenly it quit.

As far as the script... it is running on the workstation from the server, and specifed in every Active directory profile based on the user (most get an all.bat script, but a few get an executive.bat script). The script will run locally when we copy it to the workstation, but it asks for the user/pass again when i try to run it. Once I enter it, it works fine.

I'm leery about trying to remove the local profile, especially in terms of how it could possibly cause further issues. In researching this, i'm hitting dead ends.

    Any suggestions?

    clean it up

I dont think you will need to remove the local profile. XP will allow you log into your laptop / pc with the network profile if you have logged into it at least once before. eg if you use you lap top at work and take it you can log into the domain profile with out even being connected to the domain. I have had many users with no local profile only a domain. If you are useing .vbs script it may not be connecting properly to the domain so just give her a domain profile then when she has that copy all of her stuff form the local one and see if that helps.
