I have a 2000 Server participating in a domain (as the PDC).

I cannot logon to the administrator account without getting this message:
Windows cannot load the user's profile but has logged you on with the default profile for the system.

DETAIL - The system has attempted to load or restore a file into the registry, but the specified file is not in a registry file format.

I really don't know what is causing this problem, and it doesn't appear to affect other users.

Any ideas what the problem could be and how it could be remedied?

    Thank you in advance.

PDC/BDC systems don't have the ability to logon locally. Domain accounts only.

I am logging on to the global administrator account on the PDC system; it only affects it on this computer, though.

Are you by any chance trying to load a roaming profile that is in an invalid destination?
Try to see if you have enabled roaming profile, and if so, if the destination of the profile is valid, including security rights...
