I have only one account other than administrator and guest on my computer. How would I login as administrator instead of Ron? There is only one icon and that is Ron.

If your 'Ron' account is an administrator account, then just set the computer to display the Administrator account on the logon screen. To do this:
    1. Go to http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp and download TweakUI from the right column.
    2. Install TweakUI, open it and look at the left column.
    3. Click on Logon and check the box that says 'Show "Administrator" on Welcome Screen'

    Hope I could help.

As the welcome screen comes up, press control alt delete twice for the admin option. Def works in Pro, pretty sure it does on Home.

I tried that but it does not let me login as administrator. Why isn't there a Icon for the administrator when I see my Icon at the welcome screen?

If you want the admin option upon log in, download TweakUI from Microsoft. I believe Steve suggested this in an earlier post.

The only way to get to the Administrator in XP Home is through safe-mode. In Pro you can do it with all of the above suggestions.

Can I upgrade from Home to Pro without reloading all my apps?

I never thought about doing that! I suppose you could do an upgrade. I just wiped home off my laptop and clean installed pro. I'm on a network and have SP1 unpacked and all the drivers on an external HD on the network so it wasn't a big deal to clean install.

I also are on a LAN. I run all my app's from my hard drive and not over the network, so it would be a big job to reload everything.

I do also. I just download everything to the external drive . I just updated everything through my network. The laptop is a wireless. I never moved anything over to the laptop just ran all the upgrades over the network. Eventually copy all of the stuff to CD's but it is convenient having it all on a HD.
