A couple of weeks ago I started downloading fonts and vector packs for the first time. I installed the fonts using directions I found on the Microsoft website. Now whenever I log onto my account (or anyone else's) all I get is a green background and the svchost.exe window. The only way I can access anything is through the task manager.

I ran Windows Defender to see if I had downloaded a virus. I didn't find anything. I can't find anything on their forums about this, can somebody please help me find a solution to this?

Hi and welcome to the BBS,

Can you tell us more about the appearance? Does it look like a green desktop wallpaper? Is the Task Bar showing?

Try booting into Safe Mode. Does the desktop work there? You may also want to select VGA Mode when you go to the Startup Options Menu (when you press F8 during startup), that may indicate a problem with the graphics drivers.

In previous versions of Windows I might suspect that Active Desktop was running/having a problem. Try setting the destop background to a standard option.

Have you selected one of the new fonts to run in any programs? If you did, change it back to a standard font (use Safe Mode).

Look at uninstalling the new fonts (again using Safe Mode).

    Matt
