Just recently acquired a new HP laptop :D with Windows 8 & IE10 preinstalled on it. (Definitely going to take me some some getting used to it though!!)

I have managed to save "mymsn.com" as my home page (I liked the option of customizing MSN to what I want to see there, i.e. local news, weather, etc. and have used that for quite some time on my old desktop computer). But when I open up that home page, I'm always asked to "sign in to see your customized settings ".

While I don't physically have to type anything in to sign in (just click on the sign in link) it will open up my customized home page.

Is there a way to fix this so I'm not having to click on that sign in link all the time? I know on this computer (WinXP & IE8) it always comes up without me having to sign in.

I've tried searching the internet for a possible solution, but haven't come up with anything that relates to the issue I'm having.

Hope someone knows the answer or where I can look to find it!

    Thanks!

Hi Vicki, I just opened IE 9 and was presented with a screen asking me to sign in.
This has not happened before. I used my Hotmail email address and password and IE 9 opened with MSN.com as the home page.
This must be a new security move instituted by the latest MS updates.
Someone with more knowledge on this subject will hopefully provide the answer. Cheers Neil.

Thanks for confirming that this is not typically normal (or at least it hasn't been?). I've googled until my eyes have crossed and haven't come across any solutions (although I have found several others that have had the same issue).

Never occurred to me about any updates, but it hasn't affected my IE8 (that still comes up normal --as being already logged in.) Not sure if that's a good thing or not??

Still hoping for a solution though!

    Thanks again!

Currently, the option to store multiple accounts on your browser has been disabled. However, you can still sign in to your account without having to enter your password and address.

To sign in automatically to your account, just check the "Keep me signed in" tickbox found on the sign in page. Remember not to sign out of your account after each session. The next time you go online, you should be directed to your account automatically.

(This is what is not working for me using Vista and my brother whose laptop is running W7 ????) Neil.

    Hello Windows Live community,

We would like to bring to your attention a small update in regards to the sign-in pages for the Windows Live web applications. E.g. http://www.hotmail.com , https://account.live.com , http://profile.live.com etc.

The design has been slightly modified. Currently, you do not have an option to either Remember me or Remember my password. The only option now available is to Keep me logged in which will enable you to browse through your favourite Windows Live sites without the need to login even if you close your browser and re open it.

However, the Windows Live ID Sign-In Assistant is currently not working, this feature allowed users to store multiple credentials. [emphasis mine]

You can find more information about the Windows Live ID Sign-In Assistant at:

    http://www.windowslivehelp.com/solution.aspx?solutionid=9558c580-a153-49bf-a686-e26e8a7e0ebf

Note: Please bear in mind that this solution article does not address the current issue were [sic] the whole functionally of the Windows Live ID Sign-In Assistant. [emphasis mine]

We are currently looking into this issue and we will update this thread as soon as we have more details. Thanks for your understanding.

Please feel free to provide us with your feedback or any other particular issues you are seeing in relation to this subject by replying to this thread.

When you check the box "Keep me signed in ", I close IE9 and when I open next time, I have to sign in again!!!
I'm not signing out - just closing the page.
Weird, so we'll keep looking. Neil.

    Lucky or coincidental?

Not sure if what I did is lucky, stupid or just coincidental? But I haven't had to click on the login for a couple of days now (but imagine just because I'm mentioning it, now it will probably stop!)

What I've tried is changing an internet option.

    Under IE tools>Internet options>General>Browsing History>Settings>Temporary Internet files>(ticked) Everytime I start Internet Explorer.

I think the original setting was to check automatically??

So am going to mark this resolved, but rest assured I'll be back if this doesn't prove to continue working (or if it's determined by someone that I shouldn't have the setting that way?)

    ~Vicki
