    Hi members

Months ago I posted a question on how to require User Name and Pwd dialog to be displayed when we log on to Win7. PeteC lead me to use the following which works perfectly in Win7.64bit.Ultimate.

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
    "dontdisplaylastusername "=dword:00000001

Recently i did the same on Win6.32bit.HomePremium and the funny thing is i can only log on using ONLY ONE of the few user account with its password. The Admin user and all other user account fail to log on.

    Appreciate feedback.

What happens/doesn't happen when you attempt to login in with the other accounts?

    Hi Steve

When I try to login by typing any other registered user or registered administrator with its working password, it just keep saying that the password & user don't match.

With only user that i can login, it will ask for administrator name & password if i go into areas that require admin right eg adding users. The registered user name and password still works allowing entry by the admin from within the active user desktop.

Let's try using the Policy Editor instead of the reg tweak.

Change that reg key value to 0 to disable its functionality.

Then do Start > Run > secpol.msc > Local Policies > Security Options

In right frame locate: Interactive logon: Do not display last user name

Double-click that line and set the radio button to Enabled.

    Logoff to activate the change.

As for the registry tweak you did, verify you did not use HKCU instead of HKLM.

    Thanks Tony
Will try the Policy Editor to see what happens.

I am sure it is HKLM as below & not HLCU

Tony Very Sorry for the late, late response.

Tired secpol.msc at "Run" dialog of Win7.32bit Home Edition. It response "Win can't find secpol.msc ".

Meanwhile i did a System Restore to a point before the problem & the problem disappeared.
