I just noticed duplications have appeared within the contents of Win Explorer. For example, there are now two entries for C>User>Chris>My Docs, the usual folder that can be opened to expose my docs, but now a second one also called My Docs that's locked with a shortcut arrow on it. The contents of both folders is the same except that all the files in the shortcut folder are locked. The same duplications have occurred for Applications Data and Local Settings.

I've also realized other folders have not been duplicated but they now have the shortcut icon and are locked (eg, PrintHood, Cookies). I tried a system restore but that (as well as MBAM and Norton) didn't solve things. The locking is not a problem, I can undo that.

Any idea what's going on? Win Explorer is just spinning off locked shortcut folders like crazy...I found a shortcut to Local Drive C when I turned my computer on this morning. Do you think I can just delete anything with a shortcut icon? Weird, huh?

Evan...thanks, but why did they just appear? They weren't there previously. Is there a way to hide them?

They probably appeared because you could have enabled the Show Hidden Files and Folders Option in the Folder Options window.

If you want to hide them click Start< Control Panel< Appearance and Personalization< Folder Options< View Tab. Scroll down and under Hidden Files and Folders select the option that says Do not Show Hidden Files and Folders. Also if you want to hide system files as well check the checkbox that says Hide Protected Operating System Files. When done click Ok to close the Folder Options window.
