When we click on certain links of web pages we get a message on the status bar saying Locked Popup and the link will not open. Can anyone help us.

It sounds as though you have some sort of pop up blocking software running. Is this the case?

Yes we use Popup Stopper. We tried to open links without it running and we still have the same problem.

When the "locked popup" appears, with Popup Stopper disabled, will a link work if you hold down the Ctrl key (or work by opening a new page if you hold down the Shift key when you click on it)? If so, then Popup Stopper is the most likely culprit and uninstalling it completely (and then reinstalling if you want to keep using it) might be the best thing to try first.

If holding down the Shift key doesn't allow the link to work in a new window, then it's possible the problem is being caused by a BHO (browser helper object) that is installed...either intentionally or as foistware (installed without your knowledge or consent by some web site you visited).

To get rid of that sort of thing, as well as any spyware, which can also created problems with links/browsers not working correctly, download, install and run Spybot.

If still no resolution, take a look at this page on Panicware's support site. If you're not runing Zone Alarm as that page says, then follow the link on the bottom of that page to see if the Microsoft Knowlege Base article helps.
