lock up, while installing game

    Installed Medal of Honor -Allied Assault, Trying to install spearhead-expansion pack. System freezes up on the second screen install shield does not start? Tried uninstall and reinstall of first game. Closed all programs in task bar. Still hangs on second screen.To close programs running in Task Manager- Processes, what programs should i leave running for computer to run properly and will the programs i shut down restart when i reboot??

    Unless there has been some sort of update, it appears that this game is intended for the Win9x family.

    I would uninstall, then right-click the setup file and choose Win98/ME compatibility-mode for the installation. Try also setting the mode in the properties of the shortcut that leads to the game.

    Then, try installing the expansion also in compatibility-mode.

    If the game runs well already, you could try just installing the pack in CM. You may need to experiment and mix and match the options to find out what works.

    Thank you for your reply. i was not thinking about all of my options first, new to windows xp. I went to run-msconfig-general tab and restarted computr in diagnostic startup. Installed game than restarted in mormal mode. Game works great with no install problems.

    It takes some experimenting sometimes, but I have found very few Win9x apps that don't work in XP.
