Can anyone tell me where the History folder--(if there is one)--is located under Windows Explorer?

I know there was a folder it the Windows folder in Windows explorer in Win 98 SE, but I cannot find it anywhere in Win XP PRO

    Thank you,
    Paul

More than likely a listing in the Registry.

    Pete,
I am talking about a folder that contained the same items that are under my History in IE.

Pete, maybe I should have worded my questions this way.

"Is there a C:\WINDOWS\History file in Win XP?

I can't find one, and I thought for sure there was one in WIN 98SE.

Also I can't locate a "Temporary Internet File" either.

    Paul,

    Found 'em :)

    C:\Docs and Settings\username\Local Settings\History, Temp Internet Files.

You will need to go Tools > Folder Options > View > Show hidden Files and uncheck Hide protected operating sytem files.

    You're right Pete,

I found them just like you said --only strange thing is that there is only

    desktop ini &
    Index.Dat

listed in both of them and I must have just gone through at least 50 pages of the BBS board reading up on History.

You got any idea why those pages I have just visted are not there?

    Thanks,
    Paul

Look under any other usernames?? Should be a whole load of cookies under TIF too. Pages may be in IE cache.

Do you have IE 6 set to delete TIF when closing IE? Even so cookies remain, unless you have a setting that clears them - don't recall one offhand.

Pete, I'm the only user on this computer.

I do have it set to delete TIF when brower closes, but I have closed this BBS site for about 2 hours.

In fact when I click on my History Icon on the toolbar and scroll down to the end of the history list --the last one says
    WindowsBBS-40,000 Temp...

I don't know why they don't show in the folder.

When you found the folder on your computer did it have a lot of entries and are you running Win XP?

Paul - I am running XP Pro SP1, updated to the gills - my History folder is a mirror of that which I see in IE and the TIF folder (IE is running at present) is full with 600 or so items, including cookies.
