I would start by checking your hardware. Change the port you use on the router (if using a multi-port router), check/change the cable, change the network card.

Hi and welcome to the BBS,

You will need to give us some more information. Is it a connection to the internet? Does it use an ADSL modem? Does it have any other devices like a Router?

If the network is to connect to the internet, did you get a setup disk when you first got it? Try running that. There may be information about setting up your connection at the Internet Service Provider's (ISP) website.

Routers and ADSL modems have a reset button. If I find a problem trying to get the connection working any other way, I reset and start the setup again.

I would wonder why the Local Area Connection disappeared in the first place. Maybe it was the drivers, good work reinstalling them. I would look for updated drivers for all the major hardware, starting with the chipset (motherboard) drivers.

    Matt

Check status of the following Services. They should be started and set to automatic:
    Computer Browser
    DHCP Client
