Can anyone please tell me, when it is sold next year, whether Windows Vista will allow a user, when he pushes the power button on his computer, to access a fully loaded desktop at a much faster pace than Windows XP is currently allowing? Thank you very much.

That is a design goal. Unfortunately the only thing I can tell you is that RC1 loads very fast right now, but again I have not installed my normal full complement of startup program junk either.

For the last week or so, I've been installing all kinds of programs, games etc, mainly to see if they are going to still work, but I find Vista to load faster right now then XP.

When I first saw this question, I thought I would time XP and Vista and see which is faster. Vista was at the desktop in just over 41 seconds and XP was at the desktop in just over 58 seconds... mind you XP does have more to load then Vista...
