    Hi,
    I have a 2K domain with mainly 2k and XP clients. We have one NT4 client which is not listed in 'My Network Places' of any of the 2k/Xp machines; but it is listed if you search for computers.

    From the NT4 machine, I cannot browse any computer apart from the domain controller. I get a 'network path not found' error when I try and access any of the PCs apart from the domain controller from the NT4 machine - yet they work fine on another pcs.

    Any ideas?

    2K & XP like DNS.

    NT4 can be made to use it. From the symptoms, it sounds like that wasn't done.

    In the TCP/IP properties, make sure the DNS tab has the usual stuff entered and that the WINS tab has a check mark by 'Enable DNS for Windows Resolution'.

    Ok, thanks;

    Now the NT4 machine can access other pcs on the network, but it still does not appear in network neighborhood, and it shares files/folders.

    Why is this?

    Could be any one (or a combo) of a bunch of things. Sorry to be so vague but ....

    Is there a reason you need the PC to show up in network neighborhood? A good enough reason to spend some time 'fixing' the problem?

    Hello,

    Yes, I believe so. I wish to deploy NetOp (which lets me remotely control machines and view files, and many other things) however it only lets me deploy it to PCs that are visible in the network neighborhood. This NT4 machine is not visible, hence I cannot deploy the software onto it.
