I mailed my old wired Linksys router to my granddaughter. She hooked it up and it's working fine but she says she can't access the router by using http://192.168.1.1/?
I've never run up on that before, any suggestions to why this is happening?

192.168.1.1 is the default Linksys router lan ip address.
If you changed it then have her use the reset button on the back to set to defaults.

That's what I was going to have her do but I never remember changing the address. I also have a screen shot of the page made when I had the router showing it was set as http://192.168.1.1/.

But for some reason it must have got changed?

    Tony, thanks for your help.

The screenshot you posted is a DLink not a Linksys. And the default IP for Dlink is 192.168.0.1
Have her do a ipconfig /all to determine what the default gateway is.

cannot get into router control panel

    1) make sure proxy server settings in the intenet browser are all uchecked

intenet explorer > tools > internet options > lan settings
    make sure all are unchecked
    hit ok and apply

    2) may be a good idea to clear the cache
    3) try firefox as well

It is sometimes erratic to get into the control panel.
Sometimes the control panel will pop up out of nowhere after you have tried everything. It can be erratic
At the worst try firefox after the proxy server settings are unchecked

LOL! His post had a http://192.168.1.1 link in it. I thought it was a hyper link to a screen shot. :D
When I clicked on the link it sent me to my router and I didn't even realise it.
My D Link is at 192.168.1.1 because I changed it. :D

That's what I thought you did but I was wondering how your dlink got that address! When I read your post I laughed out lood while picturing you looking at your own router screen, but I refrained from saying that earlier, you know...manners & all. Glad you find it humorous too. Have a look at this page I made a while back:
