How would I go about sharing a DSL with two Windows XP PCs and A PC running SuSe/RedHat (Linux)?

I DON'T want to transfer files between them all, just share a connection!

Also I'm not to keen on the idea of using one of my PCs as a "server" nor splashing out lots of money for a router!

By the way the Connection I'm trying to share is a BT Broadband connection running on, err, the modem name is unclear! I'll put it up here ASAP!

(By the way I'm from the UK so telling me routers are cheap in the US just annoys me :( )

    Thank you

    Gary Maton

Well which computer/OS has the connection to be shared?

Have a (EDIT! not router) but hub/switch or multiple network cards?

BTW: Routers are cheap in the US!

Unless you already have a hub or switch, you are going to have to buy something to use more than two of them on the modem. And even for two you'd need to either buy an additional NIC or deal with USB which isn't always fun.

Also, your choices are pretty much limited to either using a router (of the small, SOHO varitey with built in switch) or using one PC as the host/server/router.

Linksys Etherfast Cable/DSL Router BEFSR41 Here for £50 which ain't too bad. Identical to the US cost in dollars and while £50 is certainly more than $50, VAT is doing most of it to you.

    BTW,
I bought a Linksys BEFW11S4 4 port Cable / DSL Router Switch with 802.11b WIFI for 89.00 at Radio Shack this past weekend. And, it came with a 10 dollar Linksys Rebate coupon too!
it's a pretty sweet peice. 128 bit encription on the WIFI side.
    Port Fowarding and Port Translation!
