link in email not functioning

have a client whos machine i rebuilt xp. he is telling me that when he gets an email with a valid link and he clicks on the link nothing happens except the link changes from blue to a purplish red but again it does not open up the web page.

have never seen this before so have no idea what to tell him. over the phone i had him check his outlook express security settings and they are okay. also had him change internet explorer security options to medium-low but still nothing happens.

anyone ever seen this before ??? also had him forward the email to me and the links work just fine for me.

thanks for the links. tried walking client though on phone but hes a disabled vet so sending his wife the links who is a little more computer savy. so hopefully one will work.

Can only think that someone accidentally changed a setting cuz normally the default should open links with no problems.
