I know I'm in the right Church--I hope I'm in the right Pew:
Am using Windows 7 and I.E 11 Comcast email which forwards all mail to IncrediMail I wrote (email) to a site I know is legitimate in the Caribbean for info on accommodations and rates. Received a reply. The reply had a list of prices (which I had requested)for different accommodations with a link to their description on the web site.
There were a half dozen or more links to different rooms/villas each containing among other things a description of the facility. I was scanning the descriptions-most of which had links to other similar accommodations. BUT I clicked on a link in the middle of some copy which took me to a **** site. I closed it immediately. I went directly to the web site which has all the pages and info I was sent except the prices. The bad link was there in the description, too.
Now, this morning-happening to be my birthday-I received an email from BIRTHDAY WISH VIDEO FOR YOU and description HAPPY BIRTHDAY Video FROM YOUR FRIENDS (email address: (admin@sendbestwishes.com) which doesn't show up anywhere on a google search. I did a Norton Scan which didn't turn up anything and I didn't open the "video ". The site I was taken to by the link fantasyhd.com is a **** site and the link was right in the middle of a description of an accommodation with an ocean front view and I was reading hurriedly and clicked thinking it would take me to further info on the villa. Is it likely I have a virus that added it or that it came from the email--is there a way to tell? Is the video email just a coincidence or could it have been generated by a virus that has infected my computer from the web site I went to. Any help or comments would be greatly appreciated. I am wondering if I should email all my friends and warn them to be careful if they receive any emails from me-that I probably didn't send. Thanks in advance---
