How many concurrent connections can be made on a computer running Windows Media Center 2002?

I know the limit for XP Pro is 10 and 5 for XP Home.
Media Center is mostly XP Pro so I’d guess 10 but can’t guess on this one and don’t know if connection limit will be in the mostly category.

Enjoyed the various threads a search pulled up, especially one by Bill Castner, ReggieB and Scott but after that detour n a few Goggle, Microsoft ones I still can’t find the answer.

All versions of XP (Home Pro MC) have 10 limit!

Vista's limit is based on the version you have Home-Ultimate etc.

To change it for any version of XP, use this:
    http://www.lvllord.de/download.php?url=en/EvID4226Patch223d-en.zip

Exrtract the zip run the executable it will tell you the current limit and allow you to change it.

When you change it Windows File protection will pop up and complain but just close it and keep the patch.

After reboot run again to check!

Originally for SP2 but it works on SP3!

    Thanks for quick reply.

Tried the program on a standalone computer with XP Home and it returned 10 connections but wondering if that’s correct for inbound connections. What does prgm mean by "“ half open connections - ?

    Finally found this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/328459/en-us

Will be testing the program tonight when can play with network.

Of course it shows only 10 connections!

    From my last post
You haven't changed it to more yet!

Once you change it reboot run again and it will show the changes you made.

No "“ I haven’t changed anything yet. Was just checking what program would initially report. MSFT says 5 inbound connections for XP Home.

    From link in last post:
Computers that run Windows NT Workstation 4.0, Windows 2000 Professional, and Windows XP Professional are licensed for a maximum of 10 concurrent client incoming sessions. Computers that run Windows XP Home Edition are licensed for a maximum of 5 concurrent client incoming sessions.

Will slowly increase connections tonight on media center then xp home computers until hit error msg. Then try the program.
If media center limit is 10 won’t need program but it’d be nice to increase it anyway. :)

I would not increment up. The first default is 50 and should be enough for an overclocked 4 Proccesor QuadCore Hyperthread (if there is such a thing) on a T1 line!
