Fresh install from w95 to w98 SE, disk wiped clean.
No more Norton System Works, sent to byte the dust heaven.
To conserve resources, no SW firewall, computer sits behind NAT/router.
Of all the AV freebies, which requires the least resources for a 6 year old, 300 HMz /128 MB computer?
    Thanks

Running AVF (free) with XP on my old box - just over 5 meg memory usage under Processes. Have nothing at present on the bare 98 install on that box - no internet connection.

    Thanks PeteC
Last night (8th) loaded and installed AVG Free Edition. Install, scans, schedule are setup and work fine. The only problem I had, could not get AV database to update via internet. Said I did not have a open internet connection (Cable ISP). So I loaded my default browser Mozilla 1.6, still same response. Then I loaded IE 6, download / update occured immediately. Is there a setting in AVG to use default browser?
Side note.. AVG did not slow / dog down this older computer. Added 5 seconds to the front end of boot up and that's it. Assuming timely AV updates are available, seems to be a nice program. Oh, one question... there is a web site which provides a "simulated virus" for test purposes. I've used the site to test my XP / NSW months back, can't remember the URL.
    Thanks
