We have a Lexmark 4300 series multi function printer that all of a sudden has decided it doesnt want to print any more from within windows (xp)

The scanning function (from within windows) works fine but it just wont print anything. The printer works completely fine (printing, scanning etc) on another xp computer.

We've tried completely removing the software, reinstalling it, downloading the latest drivers, checking usb drivers all to no avail. Lexmark support were totally useless - they had no idea.

We've compared printer settings from other computers that it works on - print processor etc and these all match. We've even tried different settings.

I'm sure formatting and re-installing the os would fix it but that's a) a bit drastic and b) the easy way out.

    Can anyone suggest anything?

    Hi Markjrees,
I was reading thru alot of the postings and noticed the unfortunate thing here where some how a reply was not given to your situation with the printer. Since it appears a week has gone by, I'm not so sure it still exists and if it does I am willing to see if together we can wave the magic wand.

    INCASE IT DOES:
I have had to troubleshoot some printers, and some were fixable while others were not so fortunate...One thing that gets over looked is the cable...I did not notice in your posting if that was considered or not ??? Also, was the printing queue cleared out from previous printing documents...Another common problem is when there are paper jams, it seems like we think yanking the paper out clears the tracks when inactuallity it's not...I have seen a printer that has a rear compartment for removing paper jams that's why I mention it...

Can you please advise if you still have the problem and if you can let us know as well on what I have mentioned has been done and or helpful...Thanks
