Got an email from MS Security late yesterday starting
"Title: Certificate Validation Flaw Could Enable Identity
    Spoofing (329115)
    Date: September 4,2002 (Revised November 11, 2003) "
    and referencing
    http://www.microsoft.com/technet/se...in/MS02-050.asp
First of all note that MS02-050 was originally issued over a year ago.
I tried mightily to understand whether I (with Win98FE) should do anything. Windows Update Installation history and qfecheck.exe both show that I have installed 329115 (the new number for the patch) a year ago already. According to
    http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=329115
I already have the proper versions of the patch files on my PC--in fact my version of schannel.dll is later (5.00.1878.13) that what is in the MSKB article.
I think I have decided the November 11, 2003 revised patch is really only for people with Win2000 SP4. And so I have done nothing.
If anyone feels I have misinterpreted the situation, please advise.
    Thanks.

So you only need the new patch is you are running Win2K SP4, and installed Internet Explorer 6.0 Service Pack 1.
