Just got a laptop back from Geek Squad, running Win 7 Home Premium, now it takes a LONG time to load up when booting. It takes well over 5 minutes before you can do anything. Any suggestions other than taking it back to Best Buy?

Obviously taking back the laptop is the first thing to do: You paid money, so they should give you a good working machine! There's a warranty here.

I also noticed that IE9 takes almost a full minute before it opens.

FYI: BB had to replace a defective HD.

Wonder if they gave you a slower HD then what you had? I trust BB about as far as I can throw a Elephant. I am not saying that they did this, but have heard horror stories about them several times.

I also agree with Arie here as it would be taken back to them immediately and tell them what is going on.

Hi AceH. Obviously we would normally help you with getting your laptop running well and figure out why your laptop is running slow. But since the laptop takes a long time to startup AFTER getting it back from Best Buy then I would take the laptop back to the geek squad and have them properly repair the machine this time.

It's something that is their fault that they probably caused so they should be the ones that have to fix it.

If the laptop was running fine before you took it into Best Buy to get the harddrive replaced and now with the new harddrive the machine has slowed down significantly, then there is something wrong there and the geek squad should be the ones who have to sort out the problem.

Before you leave the Worst Buy Geek Squad, turn it on there and see what it is doing.
