so, my new laptop is used at school, sometimes to listen to pieces that im practising. big problem when i can hardly hear it. is there some way i can make my computer louder? even when i plug in headphones, at max volume it is still really low.

    its an acer aspire 3680

the only good way i have of getting volume is when im at home plugging desktop speakers in, since they have their own volume setting as well.

is there someway to make my laptops defaults go louder than max? cuz max really isnt all that max........

hopefully someone knows of something to do!

    Hi,
At least try updating your drivers. This is the European website:
    http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_3680.html
Website location selection is at the top right.

Install the Chipset Driver Intel, then the VGA Driver Intel, then the Audio Driver. The others, (check that you have the hardware) can be installed if you would like to cover them all.

The type of audio controller is not mentioned. Check in the System Tray (next to the time) for an audio "manager" and the volume controls. Right-click on the icons. There are several different controls for input and output.

Read in the manual, there may be key combinations that adjust the onboard speakers.

well, i do know that it uses "realtek audio manager" as well as the default windows thingy. but i think the realtek is more for what it sounds like, now how loud or low it is (and, i did check, all the volumes in there are up to full blast...)

im pretty sure ive got all the drivers installed, i just recently formatted it & made sure to install all teh drivers.... the only thing i didnt put on was the useless software it came with...

Does it say Realtek HD Audio Manager? When you right-click on the icon, open the Audio Devices selection. If you have more than one (you might have Speakers and another, Realtek Digital Output). Left-click on Speakers and select Set Default. Click Configure and check they are set as Stereo. Go to Properties, check the levels, etc (set the enviroment to none for testing).

According to the specifications, the laptop has S/PDIF, this is a six-sided connector and could be where you plug in your external speakers. It is the "Digital" output. The onboard speakers, I guess, will be analogue speakers.
