Ok every one. I used to have 30meg internet running through a netgear n600 router. All my computers ran fine at that speed. Now my problem is my ISP upgraded us to 60meg and every thing runs on 60 but one brand new HP laptop and I am lucky to get 40meg out of it. Even my tablet and cell phones running on the network are getting about 56meg. I turned every thing off but the HP laptop and ran the speed test and still only got about 40meg. Any idea what's going on? Thanks in advance..

The new hp laptop may have hp wifi software installed and running. Get rid of it. All you need is the wifi card drivers and windows will handle the connection.

The new laptop probably has windows 8, with a multitude of stock and 3rd party apps all using the bandwidth. Shut off or disable apps that use the Internet connection and test speeds again.

The only "close to reliable" speed test is to download a large file from a server that has known bandwidth. That 60mb connection is ONLY on the ISP network. Once a request leaves the ISP network the rates will vary.

Third party browser security add-ons can also affect speeds.
