acer 5570 laptop was working good the other night when I was on it, I shut down the computer for the night and when I was going to turn it on the next day there was nothing. The battery power light is on but the power supply light on the laptop no light. I took the power cord off just to see if the battery light was on but it doesn't light up and tryed pressing the power but there's nothing, I figure it's the hard drive or mother board!

Any help or input would be gladly appreciated!

Hi truetiger35, welcome to BBS. Does your laptop operate with the power only connected? It may be the power plug in circuitry faulty. It will help others with more knowledge on Acer laptops if you took the time to fill in your System Details. Upper left of screen in User CP. Neil.

    thanks for responding retiredlearner.

it use to work both ways with the AC power connected and with only the battery without the AC power connected!
I tryed it with just only the battery and there's not even no battery light and it use to work with just the battery!

I am using my desktop computer at the moment!

Did you leave your laptop connected with the AC power overnight? You may have had a power surge/spike which could have caused a major problem. I always disconnect my laptop from the wall socket when not using it. Have you googled to see if other Acer owners have had this problem? Neil.

ps. another thought - disconnect power (AC) and remove battery pack. Then hold down the Start button for 30 seconds or more. This should reset Defaults. Refit battery pack and try again to start.

If my ps. doesn't help, can you access the RAM? Try taking out one stick at a time to see if you have a faulty RAM. Neil.

There seems to be a lot of problems with Acer laptop Power jacks causing no starts. Have you tried wiggling the cable at the connector jack when pushing start button? Neil.

I emailed a computer repair shop last night and he sent me this info
it has nothing to do with any software or anything like that.....i think that it could be that the power adapter on the inside of the laptop could be broken (soder joints came off) ... I am going to take the laptop to him!

    Thanks for your help retiredlearner!

Thanks, my last Post has noted that as a major laptop problem. Pays to be careful when plugging AC power in and make sure it doesn't get knocked when in use. If this is the answer to your problem would you please mark it 'Resolved'. Cheers Neil.
