Hi I do apologise if this is in the wrong area. My daughter has a Toshiba 1300 laptop, with Vista I'm unaware of what she has done previously before this has happened.

What is happening is the laptop is booting up, heading to the Windows Repair screen, offering the choice of recovering the system or continuing as normal (as if the laptop has not been shut down properly)

But when you click either option it simply just restarts itself and goes into a cycle. It allowed me into safe mode once, now no more. I wondered if anyone could help me on the matter, your help would be greatly appericated. I work with Macs so this is a bit more problematic for me.

You will need boot to the Vista DVD, but if Toshiba don't supply a Vista DVD, only a destructive re-imaging system, you will need to consider whether to use that, but there is a "repair" disk available

you could try the options offered by that (Startup Repair, System Restore, etc).

If you are desperate to get files off the old system you could take the HDD out of the laptop and connect it into another computer (it should be Vista or Windows 7 based).
