Laptop disconnects from bluetooth GPS

Dear Sirs:
I'm running Win/2000 Pro service pack 4 on a HP Omnibook 6100 laptop, Blue Soleil v1.6 bluetooth program, Seidio RBT-2010 GPS, Integrated System Solutions Bluetooth dongle.
Here is the sequence of events. I turn on the GPS. It acquires satellites quickly. I start the BlueSoleil program on my laptop and connect (paired or unpaired makes no difference) with the GPS. I then start one of my navigation programs such as Microsoft Streets and Trips 2004. The Streets and Trips program will connect with the GPS and show my position. After a couple of minutes I will lose the gps connection that my Streets and Trips had established. The only way to re-establish the connection is to exit
the BlueSoleil program and re-start it, and then re-establish the connection in Streets and Trips. I tried all the different modes such as Home/Office Desk,
Portable/Laptop, Presentation, Always On etc. No Change. Plugged into 110 or battery, no difference. Incidentally, my ppc-6700 PDA with google maps or Memory-Map navigation works just fine. It will connect with the gps and maintain the connection indefinately. Also, I installed the BlueSoleil program and the bluetooth dongle on my desktop computer running Windows XP Home and it maintained the connection indefinately. It seems that my laptop is telling the dongle to disconnect after a short while. I looked in device manager/ adapters, and USB controllers and any other place I could think of to find any power saving buttons, tabs, check boxes, etc. Nothing seems to work. Is it my laptop? W/2000? Both? Any help at all would be mightily appreciated.......Thanks.............Andy

 

Just finished re-formatting thinking that the competion for resources may be a little too much. Loaded Bluesoleil only. No help. The bluetooth disconnects even faster. Stumped again!!
