Does anyone know of an adapter to hold a laptop DC/DVD in a standard 5 3/4" bay? I have a friend with a slim case Gateway computer that has a stand to allow it to be used in a vertical position. Two CD roms have been ruined because the spindle in the CD rom doesn't center the disk correctly, resulting in an off-balance disk. The computer desk he has wasn't made for a desktop machine, so he told me he has to pull out the computer out and lay it on the floor while using the CD drive. That really has to be a pain! If there is an adapter like that,it would be great. If not, any reason why I can't "invent" one?

    Thanks,
    Blu

Don't know of any kit maybe someone else does to put a notebook DVD into a desktop computer. Here is what I did when I took out my CD/DVD ROM drive out of my notebook and put in a DVD Burner. I bought a slim case for the old drive that runs off the USB port. Something like the one found here: http://www.shentech.com/suusb1excaen.html

That's pretty cool. Although it's a good solution for some folks, I really wanted to avoid an external device. I got a floppy to 5 3/4' adapter I was looking at and thinking of modifying to hold a laptop CD drive. The IDE adapters are easy to find. But I'd rather just show him something he could buy. I like to help people out, but I don't have time to fix everybody's problems. The non-paying everybodys anyway. LOL!
You would think someone has already got one on the market. If not, I sure wish I had the money to patent and market the idea myself.
