My HP Officejet 8600 Pro- Model CM750A cannot be found by my Acer netbook. The netbook is connected wirelessly to the same router.

I can print wirelessly from the Desktop, which is where I installed the HP Printer. What software, if any, do I need on the netbook? Is there something else I need to do and if so what? I do not want to use HP's eprint.

When I attempt to add the printer to the laptop, it only finds a neighbor's shared printer, not mine.

I have a DLink Router and Norton Security Suite.

    My router shows the following
IP Address Name (if any) MAC
    192.168.0.250 MyNetbookname 00:25:56:67:de:6d
    192.168.0.252 HP657C29 10:1f:74:64:52:b4 (Printer)
    192.168.0.254 MyDesktopname 00:11:11:99:19:f0

WinXP SP3 is on both systems.

Printing wirelessly from my Dell desktop works properly.

I have set the printer properties to shared on my network.
This connection is important to me as my 5 1/2 year odl Dell desktop has lost one RAID drive and not sure how long the rest will last. Everything has been backed up and a new system ordered. In the meantime I need to be able to print from the netbook, in case the Dell goes kerplunk:eek: soon.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank You

    Problem solved.
HP website was not helpful and when I used the HP Installation CD, it looked as though I was going to set up the entire Printer functions, instead of just adding it to the netbook. Finally found a place on HP website that eventually directed me to a diagnostic utility. Utility explained more fully how to use the original install software to connect the printer to the netbook.
I downloaded the install software from HP website and went from there.

When I finally got to the correct place everything went smoothly. Problem is that the HP website is not very helpful for finding what you may need.

I should have known how to do this but got confused because of the Installation initially seeming to get me to set up the entire 8600 configuration.

    Thanks anyway.
